Gokyo Lake trekking is alternative to Everest base camp Trekking. This trek gives an ample opportunity to explore the everest region thoroughly. It provide the possibility to walk through some of the most dramatic landscapes through Khumbu Himal, gokyo Valley and pass. A half an hour flight from Kathmandu will take us to lukla. The route follows the Dudh Koshi to its sources near the Gokyo lake to the west of the everest base camp. Trekkers have an opportunity to climb gokyo peak (5483m) which offers an excellent view of cho-Oyo, Everest, Makalu and many other Peaks. After crossing the Chyugima La pass (5420m), the route circles via Gokyo Ri, Dole, Machhermo and Lukla.
These Everest Gokyo Lake-14 Days trek start with short scenic flight to Lukla, gateway to Everest Region. Then, trail continues north up the Dudh Kosi valley to Jorsale, where the trail officially enters the Sagarmatha National Park. You will take rest day in Namche Bazaar to acclimatise. This town, the hub of Sherpa society, is the administrative centre of the Khumbu region where we can also visit to a bank, several shops selling items of every description and a proliferation of Sherpa inns. Leaving the main trail to Mt. Everest, we climb high on a ridge to 4000m past a large chorten at the village of Mong, said to be the birthplace of the saint Lama Sange Dorje, the reincarnate lama of Rongbuk Monastery in Tibet who introduced Buddhism to the Khumbu. We reach to Gokyo, these is your first real day at high altitude and the trekking, may be described as moderate to difficult. Climb a ridge from where the valley opens wide as the trail passes through Pangkha. Mt. Cho Oyu 8153 m dominates the skyline to the north as we climb the moraine on the left flank of the Ngozumpa Glacier. Next Day, we have leisurely trek to allow you to acclimatise to the altitude. In the morning there is a steep but beautiful climb through conifer and rhododendron forests to Gokyo Ri. There are kharkas wherever there is a flat spot and the slightest hint of water. Tea houses and lodges will be the best choice for food and accommodation along the route as well as the porters and yaks will be there to carry your equipments. With these we take out of Lukla and end our Nepal Everest Gokyo lake treks.
